Wayne Family Practice was founded by Dr. Ollie O. McGahee in 1975. Two years later he recruited and was joined by three young physicians just out of residency from the Medical College of Georgia. This group association in family medicine, of three new physicians with a senior partner, was unheard of at the time. Dr. McGahee received national attention for his inspiration as a pioneer in providing Wayne County with its first medical home here at Wayne Family Practice. Two of those young physicians, Drs. Elliott and Phillips are still practicing at Wayne Family. Dr. Keown joined the practice in 1987, transferring his practice from Kentucky. Dr. Keown attended the University of Kentucky School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Just before Dr. McGahee’s unexpected passing in 2003, Dr. Headley came to Wayne Family in 2002 after completing his residency in family medicine at Self Regional HealthCare in Greenwood, South Carolina. Dr. Headley was a Naval officer before beginning a career in medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. All of our physician are American trained and board certified in the specialty of Family Medicine. Our physicians hold a cumulative 110 years experience in the practice of medicine! We do not use physician extenders at Wayne Family Practice and each patient will be treated by their own personal physician. We have a 10.000sq ft. state of the art facility that boasts a certified in-house laboratory, digital radiology and electronic health records. Each patient can have web access to their personal file at their medical home. You will be able to make appointments, check lab results and communicate with us online. Please call and make an appointment to establish a medical home that begins with health maintenance and disease prevention. We are available to you 5 days a week and we provide same day appointments. We welcome new patients of all insurance types and will work with those without insurance. |
